The Icosavax preclinical development group is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist with a strong protein or vaccine characterization background to progress our early-stage programs.
JOB DUTIES: 
·       Design, develop and implement analytical methods (BLI, SEC, DLS, DSF, HPLC, CD) for characterization of protein-based vaccines.
·       Independently design and execute experimental protocols.
·       With direction from project scientists, independently perform basic laboratory duties, plan and conduct experiments, maintain best practices, write protocols for studies, perform basic calculations and data analysis, and organize results in a clear and logical format.
·       Follow standard protocols in the laboratory and adhere to all safety and company policies.
·       Communicate experimental findings in written and oral format to internal groups and project teams. 
·       Maintain complete and accurate electronic laboratory notebooks.
·       Identify and proactively communicate experimental study risks and provide mitigation, where possible.
·       Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors and demonstrate ability to work in a matrix environment.
 
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 
·       Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, bioengineering, molecular biology or related field is required.
·       5+ years industry/academic experience required for Associate Scientist and 8+ years required for Sr Associate Scientist.
·       Practical knowledge of analytical characterization techniques including SDS-PAGE, BLI, SEC, DLS, DSF, HPLC, CD.
·       Experience with vaccine formulation or vaccine adjuvants is a plus.
·       Practical knowledge of microbial or mammalian protein expression and purification is a plus.
·       Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
·       Demonstrated trouble shooting ability and multi-tasking capabilities.
·       Ability to work independently, with limited direction from project scientist.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 
·        Manual dexterity required to operate office and laboratory equipment.

·       Location: Fully onsite role in Seattle, WA
·       Must be eligible to work in the USA.
·       The salary range for Associate Scientist is $95,000 – 105,000 and for Sr Associate Scientist is $105,000 – $115,000 per year; the position level and base salary will be determined based on knowledge, skills, education, and experience relevant to the role.
